I'm budgeted to shop for a camera around the 4000-5000 dollar range...

i am looking at the JVC GY-HD200 but i am wonder if you can record via firewire to any hard drive or does it have to be JVC hard drive Accessory?

does any one know?

You can use any DTE (direct to edit) hard drive recorder. The one JVC offers is actually a Firestore FS4Pro HD and works very well. I can't comment on how well the DTE recorders from CitiDisk or Laid work. I've set up two of these cameras with the Firestore and it takes about 15 minutes to transfer about 2.5 hours of footage to a G5 dual 2.5ghz Mac.

so i have done a quick internet search on workflow

is it true that the Firestore FS4Pro HD only records a HD image as a .M2t if that is true what is the best way to get it into FCP 6. can you log and transfer or do you have to use a program like streamclip?
