Direct to edit drives

in my last post i asked about which DTE would work best with a jvc gy-hd200. the answer i got said the FS-4Pro HD works well... it does look like the one i want but just to cover all my bases. i contacted Focus and asked... they wrote me a email back saying the FS-4 Pro HD is not compatible with the JVC and suggested the DR-HD 100 which of course they say is made specifically for the JVC. my question is; is this true or is Focus just trying to up sell me and make me get something i don't really need...

also as a side question

can you set up DTE's to work with sony's ex1 xdcam

That was my bad ... I do have an FS4Pro HD. And the two Firestore units that I mounted on the GY-HD200U cameras actually are the DR-HD100 model. They are identical in appearance to the FS4Pro HD, but with different firmware installed. Sold through JVC dealers; made by Focus Enhancements.
