Re: reading PC formatted hardrives on MAC

reading PC formatted hardrives on MAC (August 13, 2008 07:41AM) maxmcguire
OSX 10.3.4
fcp 4.0
1.5 gs ram
dual 1.8 processor (before intel)

Looking to upgrade to tiger and fcp 6.

I have 400 gigs of footage on hard drives that I had to dump through a pc while on the road. Anyone have a way for me to be able to get these viewable on my mac?

Thanks in advance
max

If the PC drive is (unlikely) formatted FAT32 then you can read it;
but if it formatted NTFS I don't believe that Mac can read it UNLESS
you have a Microsoft formatted format and are running bootcamp

I was told that NTFS formatted drives are readable by Tiger, is this so anyone?

NTFS drives can be read both in Tiger and in Leopard. But you can't write to them. There is an app called MacFuse that will allow you to write to NTFS, but it's a pain to use.

Best wishes,
