XD CAM in FCP

Hi all,

I'm sure this must've been covered before and I apologize if you're getting a little fed up with q's relating to this:

Due to a lack of familiar resources (the company's Z1 was out on another shoot), I ended up shooting some footage on the new Sony XD Cam (HD 1080i50 down to a couple of 8GB P2 cards) and I'm going to start cutting it tomorrow with the group I'm working with. I have seen the sequence settings in FCP for XD Cam, there is HD XDCam CBR and VBR... I have no experience cutting this type of material and when i downloaded the footage from the card, each clip was in a file with a lot of stuff i don't really know about... I'm an XD Cam virgin.

Is it a simple case of importing said files into FCP with either the CBR or VBR preset or do i have to convert the files into something more FCP friendly? Are there any papers/tutorials that'd be a helping hand?
