Macbook AIR as a FCP studio host?? (August 20, 2008 08:59AM) Don
Looking for a laptop to go globe trotting and wondering about the suitability of the MacBook Air with the 64Gb solid state drive as a FCP platform.

Anyone have any experience with this? I will be editing DVCAM PAL and NTSC.

Is the "drive" fast enough?

Or, should i be looking at a MacBook Pro??

TIA
Don

Hi Don,

You do NOT want to use the MacBookAir for video editing. The internal drive is way too small and there is no Firewire port for your media drive. Additionally, the MBP has much better and faster hardware.

I second this opinion. Do not use a MacBook Air for video editing, it's simply not made for this.

Best wishes,

Ronny
