FCP Question re DVDxDV (August 23, 2008 09:26AM) cadboll
Hi. I have used DVDxDV to import footage for a project that I am doing. (I have permission to use the footage). After importing it all, the size of the folder is c7GB. This may sound like a stupid question.....I have a two other DVDs of footage to import, probably of similar length. Once I have imported the footage, it says the following:

'The files aren't optimized for FCP. It is highly recommended that you either recapture the media or use the Media Manager to create new copies of the files to improve their performance for multi-stream playback'

What do I need to do here?

Second question - the normal capacity of a DVD is c4.5GB. Give the size of the folder for 1 DVD of footage, my project may well exceed that. Is Compressor the package to use to 'reduce' the file size so it will 'fit' on a DVD?

Many thanks.
