importing older projects into FCP 6.0.1

I've been having trouble opening older projects into FCP 6.0.1

In particular from FCP 5 - when trying to open the project in the newer version i get the error message:

"This project is unreadable or be be too new for this version of FCP"

The project isnt correct as still opens in the older version. Any suggestions???!!!
