Importing into FCP 5.1.4

Hi,

It's been a long time since I've been here. I like the new board, Ken.

I'm sure I already know the answer to this question, but figured I'd check here just to make sure since this is where the experts are. Is there any way possible to save down a project being worked on in FCP v6 so that it can be opened and worked on in 5.1.4? Assuming the answer is no, but didn't know if there was another workaround out there to keep me from having to go down the upgrade route.

There are two of us working on a project. He's got the newer version and I've got the older.

Hi Jason,

You can export from FCP 6 as a XML file which FCP 5.1.4 should be able to open. Test first.

Thanks so much for the quick response. Will that give me all the individual track data as well? Basically, will I have normal functionality? I don't need any upgrades that v6 offers . . . really just need access to the individual tracks for export into Soundtrack. I'm the sound guy on this job.
