Hi everybody,

I like to get feedback how others travel with their equipment. I have a Pelican case for the camera and accessories.
My questions are:
1. How do you check in expensive gear, unlock/lock the case with TSA locks, etc.
2. Tripod case?
3. Extra Insurance? etc
I know there are many members traveling with gear and any feedback is welcome.

One thing I can add here is to always have an accurate listing of your gear with you, compete with serial numbers. Make a few copies and hand one over as you go through customs if they want to see your bags, cases, etc. Some customs will claim you're bringing it in to sell so the list can be used as "this is what I have, and you can check it all again when I leave".

This really helps, particularly if you have what they see as "pro gear".

Traveling within the U.S. I ship my gear via FedEx to my destination. That way it gets there on time and I don't have to worry about baggage handlers.

Hi David,

More and more people are doing this now. I know one guy who not only ships his camera gear to his hotel, he also ships his small clothing suitcase.
