Capture Now Stops in 1 Second ???!!! FIX?

Capture Now Stops in 1 Second ???!!! FIX? (August 31, 2008 02:45AM) rgo
Hi Ken
I started to BATCH CAPTURE a home video. It is an older vhs tape & Deck so there is no control through FCP to the deck. So I would just hit PLAY and do CAPTURE NOW.

This problem came up once upon a time and I solved it, but right now, I can't figure it out. Does it have something to do with the VCR CONTROL, turning it on or off?

The video starts to play, I see it in the Capture window in FCP.
I hit the CAPTURE NOW button and the recording - capture starts, THEN STOPS in one second. Then appears this message:

"Capture has now reached the end of the Tape. All existing footage between the point where you started the capture and the end of the tape was captured successfully."

Inside FCP, under Capture, there sits the file, VIDEO 1 SEC LONG

WHY IS IT STOPPING after 1 second ? The tape has just started.
There is a fix where the video and capture can continue until I hit ESCAPE.

Do you know what I can do to video capture this old vhs video playing in a vcr at the 6 hr mode without FCP shutting it down after 1 second?

Thanks Ken

In FCP, did you set Device Control to "Non-Controllable Device?"

Hi DH

Thank you for responding....I did just what you say above. I went in and SET the control to

NON-CONTROLLABLE DEVICE

and that made it work.
