importing CDFS files on DVD (September 11, 2008 08:38AM) katford
Hi all,

I have been given a DVD with edited video I need to use to create video promos for a web site. The files are saved as CDFS (CD-Rom virtual files system driver for windows platforms). My Internet search says this format provides access to individual data and audio tracks on CD. I have tried to bring the project into FCP (5.1.4) with mpeg streamclip. It has been my first effort with this software and no luck. Can anyone help me open/import these files in FCP? I'm using iMac OS 10.4.11

I am new at this and appreciate any direction any of you can provide!

Thank you so much!

As far as I know, FCP can't work with virtual files that most likely link to the actual files located on a remote server that you probably don't have access to. Have the client supply you with the actual files, preferably in an editable format - not in some highly compressed final-delivery format. If the files are too large for optical media, try an FTP transfer or have them copy the files to an external hard drive for delivery to you.
