iMac Memory panel screw

iMac Memory panel screw (September 12, 2008 02:58AM) benvideo
Hi Folks,

I just got an Intel iMac and bought 4 gigs of RAM and there progress ceases. I can't get the
%$#X-ing little screw (in the memory door) out!

The instructions say to use a Phillips #2 screwdriver. Is that not a size but a shape? Most Phillips screws have a pattern on the head like "+" but this screw has a rectangular patterned hole. Is there another kind of Phillips I don't know about?

I'm at my wits' end and any suggestions or tool identifications will be greatly appreciated.

A buddy of mine came by with a box containing maybe 50 screwdriver bits of every sort in the article you sent, DH. None worked. The conclusion is that it's a stripped screw. I reckon I'll have to schlepp it over to Apple next week.

Thanx, BB
