Export to WMV - Any Advice? (September 12, 2008 03:53PM) bashea
I shot some DV footage and captured it into FCP 6.0.4. The client now wants me to give him the footage on disc in WMV format so that he can edit it himself with, I imagine, Windows Movie Maker.

I couldn't find a WMV option under Quicktime Conversion, avi looked awful, and I'm still waiting for the MPEG-4 to finish up, which is taking a ridiculously long time.

Any advice?

You'll need to purchase one of the flip4mac products.

????
VisualHub's ancient Windows Media 8 can't even come close to Flip4Mac's Windows Media 9. It's like saying Sorenson 3 is better than H.264. Not even in the same league let alone ball park.

As they say, "you can put lipstick on a . . ."

I'd me more inclined to print back to DV tape from FCP and then let the guy recapture at the other end, it's lossless then.

Mucho thanks for all the advice, folks.

The thing is, this is for a small, non-profit organization that encourages and supports young musicians, so I'm trying to do what I can for them.

It looks like I'll just have to cable up to the ol' PC and capture it as a WMV with Movie Maker. Yep, a step back into the stone age for us FCP'ers, but, it's for the kids!
