New Camera Won't Interface With FCP

I just bought a Sony DCR-HC38 DV camera, shot some stuff, and Final Cut Pro WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THE CAMERA.

I've tried all the basic stuff; turning camera on/starting the Mac, different cables, different capture settings (Firewire NTSC, Firewire NTSC Basic), Non-Controllable Device (which recorded audio but not video), Capture Now, and now I'm just out of ideas and patience.

Any ideas?

Have you setup the camera properly? It's in VTR/VCR mode and set for iLink output?
