Re: HDV editing - faster graphics card?

Hi all,

I'm starting to notice more and more that my G5 is struggling with HDV material in FCP. Putting basic filters on requires rendering, sure it may not take that long, but when more complex filters go on it takes ages.

I was wondering if a new graphics card would help the situation... I understand that most of the performance depends on processing power but surely a faster grfx card would help. The thing is, I don't have massive amounts to spend on the grfx card, if that would indeed be the direction i needed to go in.

Dual 2GHz G5
4GB RAM
660GB HD
ATI Radeon 9600 (128mb)

I've seen these cards: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, ATI Radeon 9800 XT and Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT.

I've already posted twice on this subject and no one has got back to me. If anyone could please give me advice as to which of these cards (if any) would be a good choice for me, it'd be awesome.
