Importing iShowu .mov video files (September 16, 2008 07:20AM) katford
Hellow all,

I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. I have OS 10.4.11 and FCP 5.1.4. I am importing video from a DVD using ishowu. The audio and video seems to be captured properly when I view it in DVPlayer but when I import it into FCP the audio and video are out of sync.

When I capture the source video in ishowu, these are my settings:
Apple DV/DVCpro-NTSC,
high quality audio
30 fps (I tried 29.97 fps, yoo)
video quality high
scale: 100
capture size: normal

Is there some setting I need to change in FCP? I've never had this problem before with video captured with ishowu. Ideas??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using iShowu to physically screen grab a DVD that is playing on your screen? If so then this sounds pretty problematic. Mpeg streamclip will allow you to rip a DVD straight to DV-NTSC as long as the DVD isn't copy protected. Failing that it's extracting the DVD using mac the ripper then export using mpeg streamclip.

Hope it helps
