Hi Ken and Friends,
Just got a new Intel iMac and will use it for FCP editing. My retiring G5 has an Apple Cinema Display and I'd like to use it with the iMac which has a "Mini-DMI video out port" so what kind of adaptor do I need?
Thanx, BB

A 'Mini-DMI' to DVI adaptor I would guess. Call the apple store and they them what you need. They have adaptoprs.

Ken,
First I must correct a typo; it's Mini-DVI (not "DMI") -- Duh.
Anyhow if I do go that route -- the adapter only costs $19 -- once I've connected the display how do I set it up for FCP (5.1.4)? I think I'll want the Canvas and Timeline on the iMac screen and the Viewer and Browser on the 2nd Display -- or maybe just the Browser.
Is that obvious in the Arrange window?
Thanx, BB

You'll want the Viewer, Canvas and Timeline on your main monitor. You can put your Browser on the second monitor.

When you launch FCP, everything should show up on your main monitor. You can drag the Browser over to the second monitor. I also put my scopes and other tools on the second monitor.
