Capture problem

Capture problem (September 24, 2008 10:36AM) Steady Shot Video
Apparently I have a tape with glitches in it. I've tried adjusting the capture settings and tried using the camera I shot the video with....I am only able to capture about two minutes of video before I get an error about the tape. Any suggestions?

Hi Bill,

Are you capturing to a Firewire hard drive or a USB 2 hard drive? You are using a scratch drive ( a second hard drive for captures), right? Check the format of the drive, is it formatted as Mac OS Extended? If it is formatted as FAT 32, then this is the problem.

Also, in User Prefs, 'On Timecode break' > Make new clip.

I have no problems capturing any other tape to the same drive. It is formatted for Mac. I'll try 'timecode break' option. Thanks

one suggestion i would make would be to set FCP when captureing to a noncontrollable device and just do a capture now... not sure if thats one you tried
