Re: iLink Conversion Opinions Please

Hi all, i haven't managed to get myself a pro camcorder yet, i'm using the Sony HCR-HC7e, i'm running FCP5 on a C2D iMac and for DV i have no issues whatsoever. I've tried the apple intermediate codec and the performance is pretty poor, incidentally how good is the pro res codec, should i drop the £300 and to FCS2?

My camcorder has the iLink conversion feature where it will send HDV recorded material through FW as DV. What do people think of this technology, does it work fairly well or is it a waste of time, i'll give it a blast next weekend and test it out but in the mean time any opinions would be appreciated.
