Thanks Ken, well written.
Now that I have it at the higher resolution, the 1hr 23min video shows 4.9Gb in the indicator above. Will this adjust when I encode down to 4.7? Or is there something I have to with the encoding tab?
I did play with it to see if lowering the bit rate would change it, after clicking on apply, it did not do anything.
Thanks again,
Trig

Ken, I ended up taking the .mov file into FCP7 and sending it to compressor like I normally do. I left the markers that were generated by the .mov file in DVDSP, so I didn't have to reset the chapter markers. So everything is done.
But, my question was: If I bring .mov file directly into DVDSP, do I have to do anything to compress it down below 4.7 or does DVDSP automatically encode it. I started encoding, but it got to 12% and just sat there for a half hour without moving. So, I went the other way with FCP and Compressor.
So, it is just for information type question. The job got done
Thanks,

I have always gone through Compressor. As I recall, if you go out of FCP 7 as a self-contained movie and then into DVD SP, you still have to set your bit rate settings in DVD SP.
