Basics of reconnecting media

Hello Ken,

Long time no see.

Somehow or other since we were on FCP (7) a couple of years ago, our files have become a jumble, and it is necessary to reconnect a lot of stuff.

I'm always nervous about trying to reconnect for the whole project, so I try to reconnect a clip or two in some sequence, and I check "Connect all files in the relative path." But only the single clip that I selected reconnects. @#$%! Of course there are other clips at the same location, but only one reconnects. In fact I may have multiple clips with the same name (referencing the same capture file) in the sequence, but only one connects @#$%! (Pardon my language.)

What am I forgetting?

Further: we have numerous projects with numerous sequences with many clips, many of which need re-connecting. Are there some tips I should know about how to do this?
