Audio in FCP X

Audio in FCP X (July 10, 2015 03:02AM) jrosson
Ken/Folks,

Recorded soundbites in a hallway with a standard wireless mic. The sound also was recorded on shotgun of our HDX900.

In the audio enhancements window -- we were able to mostly remove an echo with Background Noise Removal 'blued' and cranked all the way up to 100%.

But oddly, the first 3 or 4 seconds of the sound still echoes, almost as if the echo is keyframed out of existence. As the clip plays through the soundbite, the echo goes away as desired.

Is this normal?

Thank you,
JR

Not sure how many audio tracks you have, one on board camera + 2 external recordings?
Make sure that only one audio track is playing. Disable one or more tracks/clips in the info pane, or in the timeline attenuate the audio on the video track and see if the echo goes away.
If the wireless mic was a lav then be aware that lav mics are somewhat prone to reverb reflections from hard surfaces due to their typical omni pick-up pattern. Try just the shotgun if you hear echoes on the wireless mic.
If this doesn't do the trick, and the effect within FCPX won't clean it up, you will need to use a 3rd party plug-in or an audio app.

Hope this helps, Greg
