Hi Trig,

Journaling is only for boot drives or partitions. Journaling off for media drives.

Thanks Ken,

Now, I am transfering files from a 250gb ext hd to the new 500gb hd. Help me figure the time it should take for FireWire400. Somewhere I am wrong, but don't understand where.

I timed how much data transfered in one minute. 1gbites/min. x 8 = 8gbits/min. = 8,000mbits/min. = 133mbits/sec.

Shouldn't I be getting 400mbits/sec.?

I am running both external drives to the computer, rather than chaining them.

Thanx
Trig

Trig, unless you've got an extra PCI Firewire card in your machine then both of those ports will have the same connection to the motherboard, so they're sharing the bandwidth of the FW400 connection. Plus I don't think it acts as a pipe between the two but is being managed by the OS so the speed of the system will have something to do with it (at the limit of my knowledge there though)
