Lightening up footage

Hi Guys,

I am very new to fcp and wanted to know how i can make my footage brighter (it was shot a little dark) and i have everything in my timeline and i just need to know what to do next and how.
If anyone could help that would be great. I am trying to teach myself and its not going so well.

Hi Emma,

Try with composite modes.
Duplicate your clips (video track only) you want to make lighter, then on the top clip
apply composite mode Screen (go to Modify menu - Composite mode - Screen.
You can adjust the amount of "lightening" by adjusting the opacity of the top clip.
